Ⅰ. Introduction
With a new global accelerating progress of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, the world economic and political patterns will undergo profound adjustments; the numerous existing industrial forms, divisions of labor and organization modes will be overturned; people’s lives and the way of studying and thinking will be reconstructed. The traditional disciplinary talent training system can hardly adapt to the social and economic needs of sustainable development, thus innovative development of higher education is imperative. Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) decided to set up the School of International Economics and Management(SIEM) in 2019, in order to provide a good service to the national strategy and Beijing “Four Centers” construction and industrial development demand. It will meet the needs of education reform and teaching innovation to improve the talent training quality, and to achieve the goal of building a distinctive high-level research-oriented university.
Ⅱ. Vision
Based on the majors of Big Data Management and Application, Financial Engineering, International Economics and Trade and Tourism Management, the School of International Economics and Management aims to promote the integration of disciplines, science, education, and industry. We will carry out the construction of “New Engineering Science” and “New Liberal Arts” to cultivate compound elite talents in the field of Big Data, Economics and Management, and to build an advanced leading international economic management school with distinct characteristics.
Ⅲ. History 
In order to meet the strategic needs of national economic and scientific technological development and considering the actual and future development needs of our university, two first-level disciplines, Applied Economics and Management Science and Engineering, are selected as the foundation of the School of International Economics and Management.
The discipline of Applied Economics at BTBU started to recruit graduate students in 1981. It was one of the first batch of national master's degree authorization institutions. It was honored with Beijing key discipline construction in 2002 and rated “B” by Ministry of Education in fourth round Discipline Evaluation in 2016. BTBU Applied Economics came up with 33rd in general development, namely ranked the top 21.3% in and the nation, and 2nd among participated Beijing local universities. The discipline of Applied Economics was approved as doctoral degree authorization station of the first level discipline in 2018, was permitted of Applied Economics post-doctoral research mobile station and selected into the Beijing Advanced Discipline Construction Project 2019.
Management Science and Engineering discipline at BTBU was established in 1987, recruiting undergraduate students of Information Management and System major (former Economic Information Management major). The master's degree authorization station of Management Science and Engineering was approved by the academic degree office of the State Council in 1998. Management of Science and Engineering discipline was honored with university key discipline in 2010. Our university owns many national and municipal scientific research platforms. “National Engineering Laboratory of Agricultural Product Quality Safety Traceability Technology and Application” is the only national platform in our university, which was officially approved by National Development and Reform Commission in Feb. 2017. In addition, we have multiple municipal platforms, such as “Big Data Technology Beijing key Laboratory of Food Safety”, “Beijing Institutions of Higher Learning Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and Beijing Off-campus Talent Training Base” as well as “Beijing Technology and Business University Multidimensional Whole Process Off-campus Talent Training Base”.
Based on the integration of two first-level disciplines of Applied Economics and Management Science and Engineering, School of International Economics and Management has combined the features of Food Science, Light Industry and Business Studies, focusing on Big Data Management and Application of all industries and fields. Proceeding interdisciplinary integration, layout discipline groups to achieve discipline innovation, promoting frontier development of discipline and building a new engineering and liberal arts with a high-level international standard.
Ⅳ. Cultivation System
Our school advocates the cultivation of innovative talents. We are committed to the unification of discipline construction, specialty construction and curriculum construction, and educational teaching reform, as well as the unification of postgraduate education and undergraduate education. With the curriculum reform as the starting point, new technology and knowledge will be introduced into the teaching content. Integrated course, problem-oriented curriculum and interdisciplinary seminar courses will be actively explored. The talent training system will be reconstructed to cultivate students' ability of knowledge synthesis, technology integration and cross-border integration. We plan to connect graduate and undergraduate education, to combine frontier interdisciplinary cooperation with program-based deep learning, to cultivate innovative, international, high-level talents.
 Our school has a complete talent cultivation systems including Bachelor, Master, Doctorate Programs (see table 1). In 2020, We will launch four “Big Data  Interdisciplinary” undergraduate programs, Financial Engineering (Experiment Program of Fintech), Big Data Management and Application (Experimental Program of Big Data Management and Application), International Economics and Trade (Experimental Program of International Business Management), and Tourism Management (Experimental Program of International Tourism Management). 
The major of Financial Engineering was approved by Ministry of Education in 2011. It was recognized as the undergraduate experimental  teaching comprehensive reform major, and undergraduate teaching comprehensive reform model program of BTBU respectively in 2012 and 2014, and it was ranked 15th nationally in “2016 Chinese University and Discipline Professional Evaluation Report”.
Big Data Management and Application Program was one of the 25 universities that were authorized by the Ministry of Education in the second batch, 2018. It started to recruit students in 2019. In 2020, it opened up a Big Data Management and Application experimental class, which will integrate the discipline resource advantages of Economics, Business, Management and Computer Science within the university. To meet the social needs on multidisciplinary and comprehensive human resource, this program will cultivate and provide well educated talents to state administrative departments, industrial and commercial enterprises, financial institutions and scientific research institutions on all levels.
International Economics and Trade Department was established in 1988. It was granted the right to confer master's degrees of “International Trade” in 2003, and started the English-teaching experimental program in 2006. In 2010, it was granted the degree conferring right of national first batch of “Master of International Business”. Since 2014, it has started to enroll foreign students around the world in master degree of international business. It has constructed complete international training system including bachelor, master and doctoral degrees, and cultivated a large number of international-vision talents that adapt to the needs of globalization.
The major of Tourism Management was established in 1988. It was granted the right to confer master's degrees of “Tourism Management” in 2003, and gained the degree conferring right of national first batch of “Mater of Tourism Management” in 2010. In order to adapt to the trend of tourism internationalization and serving the capital cultural tourism, the Tourism Management (Experimental Program of International Tourism Management) was set up in 2020. Forming the “grand tourism” talent cultivation mode of “international education and integration of industry, learning and research”. Through the international training mode, modular curriculum system, and tutorial system, School of International Economics and Management will cultivate the technical and versatile elite talents with social responsibility, innovative spirit, practical ability and international vision.

Ⅴ. Faculty
We are actively introducing high-level elite talents from home and abroad to build a well-constructed faculty team with broad international vision, highly educated level and strong teaching and research ability. The faculties consist of three parts. There are excellent teachers from other departments of BTBU, prominent teachers from public recruitment and high level graduates from famous universities. In 2020, our school started actively bringing in outstanding teachers from domestic and overseas. We are planning to recruit 20 postdoctoral and doctoral candidates from well-known Chinese universities with more than one-year overseas study or visiting experience, or overseas postdoctoral and doctoral candidates with relevant discipline background, good research potential and high-quality teaching ability. We will also have a faculty size of about 40 members, among whom are distinguished professors and practice advisers from well-known enterprises. The school and the university will share teachers in related disciplines and jointly serve university’s teaching and research system.
Ⅵ. International Cooperation
The school will carry out teaching and research cooperation with famous universities, social organizations and enterprises all around the world. We will exchange and work together to achieve win-win results by co-building research centers, co-applying for projects, co-training students, co-sponsoring journals, and co-establishing international associations.
We attach great importance to the international cultivating mode. The cultivation programs are integrated with the international-course contents and English teaching sessions. Some courses are taught in English or bilingual languages. The teaching materials and teaching methods will be lined with international standards. In addition, we have always maintained close cooperative relations on student exchange programs with foreign universities. Students can participate in “2+2”, “3+1” and other international exchange programs to promote short-term or long-term international exchanges.
We will be focusing on the needs of countries and economic and social development, to explore the interdisciplinary integration through the system mechanism reform, to establish a school that will be an entity with the function of teaching and research, to produce high-level scientific research achievements by attracting excellent talents from home and abroad, to be a project implementation booster by promoting close cooperation with overseas universities and institutions, and to cultivate high-level international talents with innovative ability.
